“SUNNIE PAXSON has established a reputation as an innovative contemporary jazz pianist, composer and producer known for her driving performances and memorable melodies.

She is excited to announce her new upcoming single, “Chance Acquaintance,” to be released on MADCatfish Records. The song was co-written and produced with Stanley Clarke. This song features two bass players, Stanley Clarke and Sekou Bunch, guitarist Paul Jackson, Jr., drummer Gordon Campbell, percussionist Bill Summers and a horn section. LaQuetta Shamblee, MADCatfish CEO is the executive producer.

Sunnie is the Musical Director for several other unique projects, including the roles of composer and arranger for the “Homeland Swingin’ “recording project, a special jazz and blues tribute to America produced by The Instrumental Women™ Project (a nonprofit that features performances and recordings by all-women ensembles). Three singles have been completed, with the first, “Let Freedom Ring, “scheduled for release in November 2025.

Sunnie serves as the Musical Director for singer/actress Cybill Shepherd. They have been busy presenting a series of shows for Cybill’s new nightclub/concert show “Queen of The Lucky Club!” For eight years she also served as music director for “The Women of Jazz All Star Band” at the Annual Palm Springs Women’s Jazz Festival produced by Sweet Baby Jai’. A native of Philadelphia, Paxson comes from a musical family. She attended Berklee College of Music and the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts. Sunnie has toured and recorded with Stanley Clarke and she has shared the stage and or recorded with a lengthy list of jazz greats including Doug Webb, Alphonse Mouzon, Justo Almario, Munyungo Jackson, Maysa, Dwight Trible, Pamela Williams and others. Her talents as a composer, arranger and performer are documented in a string of feature films, television shows and jingles. Her debut solo album, “Groove Suite” is a contemporary work that created a buzz on the international jazz scene. It included her funk-inspired arrangement of “Do It (‘Til You’re Satisfied)” and “The Stroll” featuring special guest, Larry Carlton. This recording project landed her on the Jazz Week list of Top100 Artists receiving the most spins and Los Angeles Magazine lauded her as one of the “Best Jazz Performers in LA.” Her “Bohemian Sun” CD, released on Stanley Clarke’s Roxboro Entertainment label and recorded with Stanley Clarke, Ronald Brunner Jr, and Munyungo Jackson is a show of her solid jazz roots. This CD has been very well received by radio throughout the world. Along with doing shows with her own band, for the past decade Sunnie has performed regularly with Ray Sidney and his gospel band Firm Soundation, touring to Tokyo and Mito (sister city of Anaheim CA) to perform and record with a 400-voice choir. This fulfills Sunnie’s love of Gospel music as heard on her original composition “Say A Prayer” on her Bohemian Sun CD and “Spirit’s in The House” on her Wild Soul CD. “ Writing, producing, arranging and performing are all facets of the art of music that I love. My goal is to make people feel good,” sums up how she feels about her lifelong passion. She takes the joys and the heartbreaks of life and transforms them into songs.
